The Black Dagger Brotherhood series has been on my shelves for less than a year, but I'm as devoted as someone who was with Ms. J.R Ward from the very beginning. It is a completely enthralling series with a major twist in the monotony of vampire epics, where vampires are a dying race of good guys and a never-ending supply of soulless, undead humans are the antagonists. With drama and romance and mouth-dropping surprises all mixed together, this series will have you obsessing over the next releases.
The wonderful Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson–Guardian series has become one of my new addictions. Though I get frustrated with some of the vampire Quinn's actions, it only adds to the story line with the issues Riley has on the boyfriend front. The werewolves' moon heat adds sexiness to a story overrun with gruesome mysteries and dangerous missions. And there's even a dash of drama mixed in with Riley's dreams of a soul mate and kids that will never really come true. Only because now she can't have children grow within her own belly. So just like the story is mixed with werewolves, shifters, vampires, ghosts and things you may have never heard of before, the storyline is also filled with suspense and drama, sex and obsession. I really recommend this series for the twenty-and-up crowd of paranormal lovers.
I have been a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series for over a year, maybe two now. I was recommended it by my friend Sophie, and have been awaiting eagerly for the next book to come out. And the next. And the next... You know where I'm going with that. I love the series, if not so much the author. Even her other series, Meredith Gentry, is awesome, what with all the Fey and everything. Sexy. Steaming. Smoking.
Okay, so compared to just about everything else on this list, Janet Evanovich is the odd author out. But despite her Stephanie Plum series not being a paranormal must-read, it's still a must-read. You can not find another klutz as funny and insufficiently successful as the character Stephanie Plum. It's amazing how many cars she can kill with something as simple as just driving them. They don't even have to be her cars! But annihilated transportation vehicles aside, Stephanie also has a wicked love life between two seriously gorgeous men - three in the Between-the-Numbers novels. Joe and Ranger - and Diesel - are everything Stephanie's not; efficient, capable. Brave. They totally work in balancing her out. Though it's always fun to tip the scales with Lula - pun intended. And Grandma Mazur. So for those who are losing their minds in the totally transfixing paranormal series and need a break in a totally illogically logical new series, I recommend the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich.
